Mersea Island Medical Practice is a well-established and friendly practice looking for an experienced nurse, to join us due to the retirement of our current Practice Nurse. This position is offered on a part-time basis to cover the first part of the week, there may be some flexibility regarding days and hours depending on candidate.
For this busy role, we need a nurse who will provide a high quality of services to our patients and be able to support our partners in the day-to-day management of the needs of our patient population. You will provide an extensive range of services to our patients, carrying out the following treatment room procedures.
• Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments and performing diagnostic tests
• Managing and treating long-term conditions, including chronic disease management of our diabetic patients.
• Implementing and participating in immunisation programmes for both adults and children including patients travelling abroad
• Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception.
• Wound management.
• Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients’ health and social care needs are met.
• General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long-term condition.
• A good knowledge of Infection prevention control
About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
• A relevant nursing degree.
• Current NMC registration.
• Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
• Competence to undertake diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
• Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation.
• Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and in all aspects of your work.
• Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
Mersea Island Medical Practice has a practice list size of just under 8,000 patients.
We are lucky enough to have 6 GP partners, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, practice nurses and a full and supporting primary healthcare team. We are a busy practice, and our clinical system is Emis web.
